Comments on: Installing a Postfix mailserver on CentOS 5

I have configured postfix as per this tutorial and I can send mail through using telnet to my gmail account but not using mail command and not evern receive mails. Nothing is logged in maillog file which I send mail thorugh mail command but it logs when I send it through telent command. Any help, where I am doing a mistake.

That could also just mean that sendmail is not running, also for httpd – mine was installed just fine but I didn’t have to stop it.

Run the start command and fire it up.

Try to check what /var/log/messages is giving you.

[root@shapira etc]# /etc/init.d/sendmail stop
Shutting down sendmail: [FAILED]

Will not shut down…
