Some people might ask: “why didn’t you post about your upgrade experiences to Fedora 9 yet? You’ve been talking about the Alpha and the Beta, but besides that things are silent!”.
Well that’s true, and has one very simple reason: I didn’t upgrade yet, until yesterday.
So, am I as excited about Fedora as was earlier? Hell yes.
I actually updated my Fedora installation using PreUpgrade, which works great. Upgrading was as easy as:
However, I regret updating. Not because Fedora isn’t great though, it’s because Fedora 9 comes with a pre-release of the upcoming xserver release 1.5 (Xorg 7.4). This pre-release is currently not supported by the proprietary NVIDIA and ATI drivers.
Why do I care that much?
Well because World of Warcraft, that I’m running on my box, needs the proprietary drivers!

Just a quick note. Nvidia has a policy of not updating their proprietary driver till a major distribution includes it. It is irrelevant whether this is pre-release or not. However they have updated their driver post release and it is available now. ATI is still dragging their feet.
Thanks for that - unfortunately for me I have a ATI card. Doh.
